Have you ever gotten engrossed in a YouTube video, completely hooked, and then POW? An ad shows up. You wait 5 seconds, don’t watch it, and after 2 minutes, another one like it appears.

Frustrating, right?

And that is what millions of people resorted to through YouTube Vanced Settings. And now to its long-awaited successor, YouTube ReVanced.

The following are 4 fast facts that make this application so popular:

  • 500 million+ blocked ads around the globe by 2026 – and YouTube ads are their number one excuse to do so.
  • YouTube Vanced was downloaded more than 100 million times, but it was shut down in March 2022.
  • 2+ million users are currently active in YouTube ReVanced in 2026, and the patches are as recent as January 2026 (v5.46.0).
  • It saves users 15-20minutes a day that they otherwise would have spent watching YouTube ads.

We will refer to all of this in this guide: what YouTube Vanced YouTube Vanced Settings is, why it is popular among people, how to open the settings, and most importantly, what settings are the best in the year 2026 so that you can have the most fluid experience.

Let’s get into it.

What is YouTube Vanced?

YouTube Vanced was an altered version of the official YouTube Android. A small group of developers managed to create it and provide users with the features of YouTube Premium for free, without a subscription.

The original Vanced team shut down the project in March 2022 and Google ceased it with a cease-and-desist notice by its legal team. However, when it was killed, a community had already begun work on a replacement known as YouTube ReVanced – and it is still thriving in 2026.

Quick explanation: By YouTube Vanced Settings, we mean the settings menu within YouTube ReVanced, since that is what people use today. The original Vanced is no longer being updated and is becoming increasingly broken.

ReVanced differs from the original Vanced. Rather than being an executable app, it patches the official YouTube APK (app file) with additional functionality using a tool called ReVanced Manager. It is a little harder to install but the final result is high quality and more stable.

Note: No Ads: will have no pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll, or banner advertisements. Even the un-skippable 30-second ones. On the Personalization tab, select Background. Good when listening to music, lectures and podcasts.

  • SponsorBlock: Sponsored parts within videos will automatically be skipped: the 30-90 seconds of time you lose with this video is brought to you by…
  • Return YouTube Dislike: YouTube dislikes were eliminated in November 2021. Community data takes them back by ReVanced.
  • Picture-in-Picture (PiP): Use other applications on this watch in a small floating window.
  • AMOLED Black Theme: Full black background – gorgeous on the OLED screens and conserves power.
  • Play Back at Your Retarded speed: Play 0.25x to 2x with custom playback available in additional steps beyond the official app.
  • Gesture Controls: Swipe on the video to adjust brightness and volume — no tapping required.

Why Users Prefer It Over Official YouTube

Why? It offers you more for free.

The cost of YouTube Premium in India ranges between Rs.129 monthly (Rs.1290 annually). That will give you commercial-free viewing and background video. ReVanced supplies all that and SponsorBlock, Return Dislike, custom themes and 50+ other tweaks at no cost.

For students listening to lectures, commuters listening to YouTube music, or anyone who simply dislikes advertisements, Vanced and ReVanced have been a true saviour.

How to Access YouTube Vanced Settings

After installation, in order to access the settings in your Android phone once ReVanced is installed, all you need to do is:

  • Step 1: Bon Appetit resembles any typical subscription service or app available on the market.
  • Step 2: Tap your profile picture at the top right hand corner.
  • Step 3: Tap intermittently until you find the setting.
  • Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page.

Subsequently, you will need to find a menu termed ReVanced or Vanced Settings and press it.

There are also such categories as Video, Audio, Ad Blocking, Playback, Gestures, Layout, SponsorBlock, and others. This is how each of them can be installed correctly.

Best YouTube Vanced Settings

1. Video Settings (Have to Optimize)

Without a screen that supports it, set Default Video Quality on Wi-Fi to 1080p or 1440p. There is no need to view fuzzy video over a fast connection.

  • Default Video Quality on Mobile Data: If you want to save your data pack while still maintaining high quality, set this to 480p or 720p.
  • HDR Video: ON: This enables the phone to display HDR content. The majority of the mid-range and flagship phones in 2026 are compatible with it – HDR gives colours a flash.
  •  VP9 Codec: Keep ON. The Q of the codec used is higher as compared to the older codecs in VP9.
  •  Auto Quality: Turn OFF. Allowing YouTube to select it automatically often results in random videos that abruptly end. It is always better to control it manually.
  • Hint: When you are on a budget phone, it is recommended to use 720p on Wi-Fi and 360p on cellular data. Videos remain fluid and your battery life is increased.

2. Audio Settings

  •  Normalize Volume: Turn ON. This is a good balance between the various videos, hence you are not bombarded when you switch between a small sound video to a loud one.
  •  Mono Audio: ON Only when you are using a mono earbud or a mono Bluetooth speaker.
  • Background Play Audio Quality: Set to High if you listen to music through background play. There is no need to degrade audio when the screen is switched off.
  • Dememorize Last Playback Speed: ON. This saves your most favorable speed(1.25x or 1.5x) and it does not need to be changed at each video.

3. Ad Blocking Settings

  •  Turn ON: Block Video Ads (should be default). Removes all video ads.
  •  Block Audio Ads: Turn ON. Blocks audio-only advertisements that occasionally run on mobile.
  •  Block Banner Ads: Turn ON. Manages to remove the banners on the home feed.
  •  shelvage Pick Merchandise: ON. Eliminates the merchandise panels displayed beneath certain creator videos.
  •  Hide Channel Watermark: Switch ON should the logo of the person who created the video annoyingly appear on the corner of your videos.

4. Playback Settings

As a viewer, you can ensure you are notified of videos by customizing each much-desired feature.

  • AUTO-PLAY: OFF unless you desire to work with automatically playing the next video on YouTube as well.
  • CUSTODIAN: Playback speed that is customizable: enable to allow the site to play faster than the standard speeds presented by YouTube. Useful for watching at 1.75x.
  •  Remembranced Playback Speed: Enable this option so your playback speed preference is applied to all videos.
  • Playback Honey: 1x speed: Casual viewing; 1.25x: This is what most students and podcast listeners like.
  • Picture-in-Picture: Turn ON. Enables you to reduce the size of the video to a small window when using other applications.
  •  Switch to Full Screen: ON when you tend to watch mostly in the landscape mode – you by passing the portrait-to-landscape switch time.
  • Exam cheating: Optional. ON Only when you want to use such applications as VLC or MX Player.

5. Gesture Controls (Advanced UX)

  •  Swipe to Control Volume: ON. Touch up/down on the right side of the video overview.
  •  Turn ON: Swipe To Control Brightness. Touch up/down on the LEFT side of the video player.
  •  Double Tap to Seek: Turn ON. Left 10 seconds = hit twice with your left finger; right 10 seconds = hit twice with your right finger.
  • Setting: It should be set to a 10 or 15-second duration. In the case of long content (movies, long podcasts), 30 seconds is good.
  •  Pinch to Zoom: This can be turned on to zoom in the videos- it is really handy with videos that have black bars at the side.

6. UI Customization Settings

  • Theme: Select AMOLED black when using an OLED device (Samsung Galaxy S series, OnePlus, Google Pixel). It genuinely saves battery. Choose Dark for other phones.
  • Hide Shorts Button: Switch to ON in case you do not view the YouTube Shorts. Eliminates Shorts tab in the bottom navigation.
  •  Hide Cast Button: ON: If you do not cast to a TV at all: It has nothing left to display on the player.
  •  Hide Caption Button: No choice — Enable when you do not watch any subtitles.
  • You can enable the autoplay feature by turning it on, and it will disappear from the player.
  •  Compact Layout: Toggle this option on to display more videos on the screen, particularly on small phones.

Advanced Vanced Settings (For Power Users)

1. Codec Settings

  • VP9 (Recommended): The video codec of Google is of good quality, it has a good use of data and it is compatible with all phones.
  • AV1 (Best Quality): The most recent codec, which has the best compression. Requires a powerful chip. It can be applied to flagship phones such as Samsung Galaxy S24, OnePlus 13, or Google Pixel 9 series.
  • The second one is H.264 / AVC (Compatibility Mode): the oldest codec. Not as efficient but can be used on any phone. Nonexempt: use as with VP9 Videos.

2. Buffer and Performance Settings.

  • Video Cache Size: This can be increased to 50-100MB in case you have room. The larger the cache is the smaller the buffering is on slow connections.
  •  Hardware Acceleration: ON. Enhances smoother playback by utilizing your phone’s GPU with less battery consumption.
  • Background Cache, Turn ON: This option will be enabled when you alternate between apps when watching videos. Retains the video as it loads in the background.
  •  Background Reduce Refresh Rate: Turn ON background (screen-off) playback. It considerably decreases battery drain.
  • Fix buffer: When videos keep interrupting while loading, check Settings > ReVanced Extended > Miscellaneous, and enable the buffer fix switch. It is a familiar background to solve buffering on most machines.

3. Experimental Features

  •  Spoof Version App: Makes You Tube appear to be using a lower version of the application. Occasionally opens features that are not yet in the later versions. Leave OFF unless you need it.
  •  DeArrow Integration: Uses more accurate community-provided titles and thumbnails for clickbait videos in place of the original ones. Switchable ON in case you find clickbait annoying.
  •  Custom Branding: Modify the app’s icon and name. Absolute cosmetic, amusing, unnecessary.

Common Issues & Fixes

Issue 1: App crashes on startup

Fix: Your GmsCore is probably not up-to-date. Get it out of the official GitHub. Note also that your base YouTube APK version should match what ReVanced Manager suggests.

Issue 2: Unable to access Google account.

Fix: Access phone Settings> Apps: GmsCore. Permissions and turn to All. Then go to ReVanced and attempt to log in once again.

Issue 3: Ads are continuing to appear.

Fix: Chances are, your patches are outdated. Install the newest YouTube APK and the newest ReVanced Manager. Updates on YouTube are intentionally delivered every couple of weeks, to prevent ad blocking – keep up to date.

Issue 4: not skipping SponsorBlock automatically.

Fix: Head to ReVanced Settings > SponsorBlock > Change Segment Behaviour > select each category and apply it to Skipping behaviour. Check your internet also – SponsorBlock downloads segment data to an online community server.

Problem 5: Video buffering or video freezing.

Fix: Go to Settings > ReVanced Extended > Miscellaneous > enable buffer fix. See if it improves by just cutting the quality from 1080p to 720p. AV1-VP9 codec switching is beneficial on mid-range phones as well.

Issue 6: Background play is turned off when the screen is turned off.

Fix: In phone Battery Settings, locate ReVanced/YouTube – change to Unrestricted. Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, and Oppo phones have particularly aggressive background app-killing policies.

Is YouTube Vanced Safe in 2026?

The code used by the application, YouTube ReVanced, is completely open-source. The code is open source on GitHub — anyone can examine the malware. Official builds are clean.

  • Your Google account: The use of a modified application is technically against the Terms of Service of YouTube. However, Google has never ever taken action against regular users, but only against developers. There have been no mass account blocks. It is a clever added measure to use a secondary Google account.
  • Where you download: The actual danger is this. x ONLY download github.com/ReVanced or revanced.app. Malware can also be found in pre-built APKs hosted on third-party sites.
  • In a few words: Official downloads + use of a secondary Google account = incredibly low envy. Generally safe and unbanned: the 2+ million daily users of ReVanced in 2026.

FAQs

Will YouTube Vanced still be functional in 2026?

The original Vanced on YouTube is no longer maintained and is increasingly crashing as YouTube releases app updates. It is no longer recommended.

Am I required to have a rooted phone to use ReVanced?

No. You do not need to root a phone in order to use YouTube ReVanced. You repair the YouTube APK with ReVanced Manager and install GmsCore to log in with your Google account. The entire process is completed within a period of 10-15 minutes and is compatible with Android 8.0 and above.

Will I be banned on YouTube using ReVanced?

Regular users have not been prohibited to use ReVanced, only developers have been. The risk is low but not zero. This is an easy and clever precaution to take using a secondary Google account, which is advised by most experienced users.

What is SponsorBlock and should it be enabled?

SponsorBlock is a community extension that automatically skips the in-video sponsor segments, i.e., the part where YouTubers promote products in the middle of the video. Free, crowdsourced, and will save you 30 to 90 seconds on each video. Yes, turn it on and all the categories to Skip Automatically. It is one of the best in ReVanced.
